An Excuse to Go Shopping
We are in the market for a video camera (you know, we have to document our unborn child's life!) and need advice on what to get. This is our first video camera. We want a nice one, but not a crazy expensive one. I don't think we need an HD one since we don't even have an HD tv. So I need your advice on what we should be looking for and recommendations.

We bought an Aiptek 1080P and love it. It is an HD one, but we bought it at walmart on a whim about a year ago and have not been disappointed. It's not too pricy, it's small, and the picture is great. Hope you guys are doing great!
We rarely use the video camera because the kids don't do anything worth recording for more than a couple of minutes. Our digital camera records video for plenty of time. So unless you want to record the actual birth, I would suggest just getting a digital camera with video ability until they start doing cooler things besides drooling, pooping and crying.
Just ignore what Carrie said (sorry, Carrie).
Go for HD. You'll pay a premium for it, and although you don't have HD TV, it's becoming standard and you'll likely have this camera for many years. You're moving in a year, and just might splurge for a new TV.
And even if you don't have HD TV, the difference are still noticeable, they're just much more pronounced on HD TV.
