Six Years by the Numbers

On Thursday, we will pack up our car and drive out of McLean, Virginia, beginning the next chapter of our lives as Texans. When we moved to Washington, D.C. in July 2004, we were newlyweds, new graduates, newly employed and thrilled to be getting a paycheck that was more than minimum wage. We thought we had it made, and we really did. We built our family here and D.C. became a home we love.

Moving is always hard, especially when you have been somewhere long enough to truly call it home. This next chapter will be exciting too, but we will always have a little place in our hearts for the Commonwealth.

Here is a look at our last six years in numbers:
  • Number of trips to Europe: 2

    London, 2005

Italy, 2006
  • Number of battlefields visited: 9 (Harper's Ferry, Spotsylvania, Wilderness, Fredricksburg, Chancellorsville, Yorktown, Manassas/Bull Run, Gettysburg, Antietam)

    Gettysburg, 2007

  • Number of Miles on Car: 60,000+

  • Number of Weddings Attended: 9 (Chris & Amanda in Las Vegas, Carter & Leandra in San Diego, Morgan & Jeff in St. Louis, Tim & Sarah in Cardston, Canada, Peter & Paige in Denver, Jeff & Cameline in Puerto Rico, Kohli & JP in Telluride, Colorado, Jessica & Doug in Las Vegas, Heather & Toby in West Virginia)

  • Number of Apartments: 2

  • Number of Seasons of Lost watched: 6

  • Number of Times Watching 4th of July Fireworks on the National Mall: 3

2008
  • Number of Trips to Disney World or Disneyland: 4

  • Number of perfectly delightful little boys to join our family: 1

Wow, I can't believe it's been 6 years. So much has happened, yet it still feels like I was just at BYU.
